About Us

 OUR MINISTER
THE REV. KAY BARSTOW GENTRY

My personal faith is very strong, in that it is grounded in the Bible, prayer, meditation, and a personal knowledge and relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is my desire and call from God to help bring the realization of the grace and love that God has for all people.

I have been in the ministry for about seventeen years. I started at my home church in Beaverdam, VA, by helping the senior pastor for about three years, at which time I enrolled in seminary at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, where I received my Masters of Divinity Degree. I have served four different appointments.

I am married to Billy Barstow Gentry, a retired Deputy Sheriff from Southampton County, and have a grown stepson, Billy, who lives in Colorado. Bill has set up his Locksmith business, Gentry's Lock and Key, at Smith Mountain Lake. Billy has followed in his father's footsteps and is with a Sheriff's Department in Colorado.

I enjoy the outdoors, reading, fishing, boating, jet skiing, and baking. I love children of all ages. When I say that, I am stating the we are all God's children, and I strive to share God's love with everyone! God is at the center of my life which is my ministry, family, and world.
In God's Love,
Rev. Kay Barstow Gentry
